October 4 – Itinerarium ad sepulcrum Sti Jacobi et Fontem Gombauldi

Carissimi Lectores,
I am sorry for not having blogged for several days. The wifi at my usual place for posting in Santiago de Compostela was not working and I didn’t have the time to find another place. Also, I had come down with something like the flu. All I seemed to do well was sleep. In any case, I have lots of photos to share once I find a wifi where I can use my laptop. I did arrive in Poitiers and was able to spend an hour or so checking out the old town. Saint Peter’s Cathedral was gorgious. On the facade, there is a spectacular bas relief of the Second Coming with the Last Judgement and Resurrection of the dead, one of my favorite subjects. On Wednesday, when I return I will see more of this very charming city, I hope to see more.
On driving to Fontgombault, I stopped at a medieval town, Chauvigny. There was a beautiful romanesque church. I must close now. A bientot.
